1 Does this work without an audio jack on your car?
Yes, it will work. It doesn't need an audio jack in the car, but your car must have the capability of picking up FM radio signals.
2 How should I get IC-F40 and auto-scan function to work?
Simply operate as per the following Four steps:
(1) Plug the IC-F40 into cigarette lighter to power on the transmitter.
(2)Press the frequency down and up button simultaneously to find an empty station.
(3) Plug the audio jack into an audio player (e.g. a smart phone, MP3 player).
(4) Tune the radio station to a non-broadcasting frequency and then set the IC-F40 to the same frequency.
Now you're good to go!!!
