Description
These are cast copper Indian Face bookend ingots made at the former White Pine copper mine at White Pine, Michigan. The pair weigh about 6 pounds and measure about 1-3/4 inches by 5-1/2 inches and are 2-1/2 inches deep at the base.
One of the ingots had excess copper/sprues neatly ground off of an edge and was slightly underfilled near the top edge on one side.
These were being poured up until 1982 when the mine began producing pure copper by the electrolytic process.
