  • Condition: Offered for bid is a unique item. It is a leather belt, which contains 15 cylindrical pouches which contain bamboo liners. The bamboo liners have a metal (perhaps lead) cap or rim. The bamboo pieces have a fabric wad (like cheesecloth) in the bottom. There is no indication of what it was designed for. Perhaps you have seen one? If so, please let me know what you think it is.It could have been used as a bandolier for shotgun shells. Or it could hold small tools. The craftsmanship is very good. It has some decorations on the front, which are metal rings or grommets. There are metal chains, with some beads and a silver decoration attached. All the metal items have some slight rust, but are intact.Bamboo cylinders are approximately 1 inch diameter. Leather pouch is 15 inches long. Leather belt straps are about 5 and 7 inches long, and very fragile. The leather is still supple.
